Manuel & Jose are two recalcitrant Mexican corn crickets with two loves: tequila & cheesecake, alright, make that three, they just love Selena Gomez – to them she is their goddess of song & dance. Jose has a really big crush on her.
To the crickets’ horror they are mistakenly sent on a cruise with an exotic plant heading to Parktown, Johannesburg, South Africa. The pair vow to return to their beloved Mexico and even more beloved Selena, somehow.
The travelling crickets eventually find themselves on a plane bound for New York and a rendezvous with destiny, for there they will meet Astro, a drivable lawnmower and a cast of many, some of them undeniably evil and hell bent on the task of taking over the world. But the two spikey critters stand in the way of world domination, all for the love of Mexico and the Mexican way of life – May God help us all!
